I did say to Theng Bu's solicitor that it would be better for him to advise his client to make a clean breast of it, as also in the case of Fang Kam. I say there is one detective constable who is numbered 12 in the Police Force now. Can't a detective constable be becoming an ordinary constable? There is one attached to the Central District. He has been here about 18 months. He is an ordinary Constable. On Inspector he ceases to bear a number. When I raided No. 3 East Street I found more than six men.

The warrant was signed by myself as J.P. [zur Robinson refers to the form of warrant given by the Ordinance 7 of 1891]

I addressed the warrant to all constables, and I handed it to Inspector Jnackie for execution. The warrant purported to be on my knowledge beyond what Mr. Francis told me. I had no communication from Dun...him. The books, papers, and articles found at No. 3 East Street were found in a cupboard or locked up in a tin box. I have produced all the books and papers that I seized. I was present when Sain was tried, and in the middle of the case he pleaded guilty. The information was correct that No. 3 East Street was a depôt - it turned out not to be a gambling house, as was stated in the warrant.

The book of which I spoke at the Police Court as containing an entry that a dollar a day was paid to defendant, was C.12. This was a mistake as far as a daily payment was concerned. Defendant asked that C.12 should be put in, but on Mr. Francis' objection, it was not put in in its entirety.

My recollection is that I did not say to the magistrate that I had no complaints of gambling in Kwai Wa Lane after the end of October.
